"So then neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase." 1 Corinthians 3:7

God has a plan for the Garden Route that is bigger than any one missionary family. He is building a good team of church planters to do His work!

GARDENRoute - May 2008
CAPETOWNMinistries
Our ministries in the towns of the southern Cape are in the very early stages. We began the the church in Sedgefield, 5 hours south east of Cape Town, only a few years ago. This is a part-time effort for us seeing as we still have ministry responsibilities in Cape Town. This has only been possible because of the assistance of the Wilmoth family, especially James and his wife Rachel as they intern for ministry under our supervision. The bi-product of this team effort has not only resulted in a growing church in Sedgefield, but has also produced contacts and relationships in three other towns in the area - Knysna, Wilderness and George.
    R
ealizing that we need help to maximize this exciting opportunity, we began to recruit more missionary church planters several years ago to join us along the Garden Route. We are thrilled to announce that a team is at last beginning to assemble!
Just this past weekend another missionary family and one single lady have committed to work with the Capeteam--allowing us to adequately cover the four towns where ministries are already underway!
Of course it will still take a year or more for these missionaries to move to the Garden Route, but the anticipation of their arrival is encouragement enough! Thank you for your prayers.
After our return to South Africa following our furlough which ends early 2009, we will also begin our move to the southern Cape. After more than 20 years of team ministry in the northern suburbs of Cape Town, the prospect of a move comes with mixed emotions. We are however confident in God's will on the matter!
Besides what is taking place in the southern Cape, the ministries of Pastor Tiny  Coupar in the Everglen Baptist Church in Durbanville, and of Pastor J-J Coetzee in the Ubuhlobo Baptist Church in Bloekombos remain faithful. Please continue to pray for the growth and maturity of these works.
Construction has begun on the new building for the Malmesbury church. The steel structure is up. Further work awaits the winter rains to pass. We will continue to assist the Blackwell and Lewis families in this church planting work until our furlough in September. Several new families have been visiting the services in the past month. Please pray as we follow up these couples.
Our "Conversation Cafe" ministry to young professionals has been on a break for the past 6 weeks, but will resume in June. Please continue to pray for this unique opportunity of building relationships with this segment of our community.

Family News:
We are grateful to the Lord for what appears to be a full recovery of Julie's health following serious concerns the end of last year, and the early part of 2008. Although she was ill briefly at the end of her visit to the States in March, it was unrelated to her previous problems.
Jared is working a regular job for a Christian man in the Everglen church and seems to be settling in to his new routine just fine. Justin continues in his 11th grade studies and enjoys soccer.
Thank you for your faithful prayer and financial support. Thanks for being on our team!
